La Serpentine de Pierre Charpin

This season it didn’t take me long to find my favourite scarf. When I saw the elegant Le Serpentine de Pierre Charpin in black/rose/white, cw 15, on my friend’s Instagram, I fell for it straight away. For a long time I had been looking for a neutral classic scarf which would work with most of my office outfits and finally I found it. I have to admit it had been quite a challenge finding the scarf in Hermes stores, as very few stores seem to have ordered it. Once I saw it on Hermes website I clicked it home immediately.

The story behind the scarf taken from http://www.hermes.com

A designer, artist and scenographer, Pierre Charpin loves colour, balance and pure lines. His designs reveal a poetic sense of humour. With this scarf, he produces his version of the serpentine, a dressage figure that carves a sinuous line. Playing with scale and flat planes of colour, the composition is structured by a ribbon, which changes colour with each new turn. From between its folds, a “character” – in the artist’s words – peeks out. This protagonist is none other than a horse, which Pierre Charpin found in a 19th-century saddlery album in the Émile Hermès collection. Geometric simplicity and classical, figurative representation meet in an unusual and beguiling world.

I hope you like the scarf as much as I do.

  1. Beautiful scarf! I’m glad you finally found something you liked. I really like that design, as well, but haven’t seen it anywhere in person. And more importantly…congratulations! When I saw you in Harrods awhile back I was wondering if you were expecting. 🙂

    1. Hi dear, I am so glad you also like this scarf. Isn’t it strange that such a gorgeous design is so hard to find? I had been hoping to find it in London, but, as you know, without any luck. They had one cw in Harrods, but it was quite boring. Thank you for your wonderful words. Yes, I am pregnant and the baby is expected to arrive in mid January. This is my third pregnancy.
Have a lovely weekend, dear. Best, Irina

    1. Thank you so much, dear Myriam, for your wonderful words. Indeed, the fact that this scarf is not owned by many makes it even more precious to me. Have a wonderful week you too, my dear. Warm greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
